We are delighted to announce details of our 2023 Cathcart Schuler Summer Internship Programme at Trinity College Botanic Garden.

Two internships are offered to undergraduate students of Botany or Environmental Science in the Department of Botany at Trinity College.  The internships will run concurrently for six weeks commencing 6th June and each comes with a stipend of €2000.

The internship is a valuable opportunity for students to gain practical skills in botanical horticulture. It is also an opportunity to gain insight into the day-to-day operations of a botanical garden. As interns, you will become integrated members of the garden team. Working alongside the Curator, Outreach Officer and grounds staff, you will receive on-the-job training in all horticultural, plant science and conservation work being undertaken. You will assist in the day-to-day maintenance of the living collections held in the glasshouses, walled garden and arboreta, as well as any outreach activities which may be taking place. There will also be an opportunity to assist in the ongoing digitisation of the living collections and the Irish Threatened Plant Seed Bank. Interns are encouraged to seek all opportunities to observe and learn and to be responsible for all areas of work assigned to them. There will also be time to document and share your activities and learning experiences in weekly blog or vlog posts on the garden’s website.

You can read about some of the experiences of previous interns in their blogs:
