The Witness Tree Project | The Witness Trees | Betula utilis var. jaquemontii

Betula utilis var. jacquemontii ‘ Trinity College’ or Himalayan Birch is a tree with particular individual and horticultural value for the garden, as it originated from a tree in Trinity College Dublin.

It is a very little researched species, with only 6 features studied globally as retrieved from relevant databases. Voucher specimens from this tree dating to the 1960s are conserved in Trinity College Herbarium, making it also an interesting specimen to compare changes in the near past.
