The Trinity College Herbarium is an internationally significant archive of approximately 450,000 botanical specimens, and a showcase of the considerable contribution to botany by Irish botanists and plant collectors. In September 2026, it reopened following a full restoration led by Curator Dr Peter Moonlight. It is now a world class facility for botanical and historical research, with its specimens, archives, and library housed and stored according to international standards. In parallel, the full collection is being imaged and digitised, with all specimen data available online via the Digiherb Portal.

You can learn more about the history and current research of the Herbarium on the Trinity Botany website.
