Quercus robur (Common oak)

In response to the Witness tree project I worked alongside the Quercus Robur species. In choosing this species I am working with a tree that has already made a significant mark on our land, ecologically, mythologically, historically, artistically and economically. My approach to this project was to invite the tree, who has witnessed so much, to speak. I collected galls from beneath the tree. I collected leaves the tree discarded and placed them between paper. I immersed all these elements, into a bath of water and heated slowly… The following prints are the marks left behind from the process.
