Following its success in 2020, we are pleased to announce that the Summer Internship Programme will run again this year at Trinity College Botanic Garden. The programme is open to students of Botany or Environmental Science in the Department of Botany at Trinity College.

Two student internship positions are being offered at the gardens from 31st May. The internships will run for six weeks and each comes with a stipend of €2000 made possible through the generous Cathcart fund to the Department of Botany. Working with the garden staff, interns will receive on-the-job training in all aspects of horticulture and plant science currently being undertaken at the gardens. Interns will assist the Curator and staff in all aspects of garden activity. There will also be an opportunity to assist in the ongoing digitisation of the living plant and genebank collections for conservation, outreach and education purposes.

This is a valuable opportunity for students to learn the practical skills associated with maintaining a botanic garden and to apply what they have learned during their course work. They will be encouraged to become integrated members of the garden team for the duration of the internship, and to seek all opportunities to observe, learn and be responsible for areas of work assigned to them.
