We are delighted to announce details of our 2022 Summer Internship Programme at Trinity College Botanic Garden.

Applications are open to undergraduate students of Botany or Environmental Science in the Department of Botany at Trinity College. This year, two internship positions are being offered to eligible students. The internships will run concurrently for six weeks commencing 7th June and each comes with a stipend of €2000.

The internship is a valuable opportunity for students to gain practical skills in botanical horticulture. It is also an opportunity to gain insight into the day-to-day operations of a botanical garden. Interns will become integrated members of the garden team. Working alongside the Curator, Outreach Officer and grounds staff, interns will receive on-the-job training in all aspects of horticulture, plant science and conservation being undertaken. They will assist in gardens curation, outreach activities and maintenance of the living collections held in the glasshouses, walled garden and arboreta. There will also be an opportunity to assist in the ongoing digitisation of the living collections and the Irish Threatened Plant Genebank. Interns will be encouraged to seek all opportunities to observe and learn and to be responsible for all areas of work assigned to them. They will also document their activities and learning experiences in weekly blog or vlog posts on the garden’s website.

Read about the experiences of our 2021 interns in their blog posts.
