We are delighted to announce details of a new internship opportunity at Trinity College Botanic Garden this summer – the Trinity Sense Internship.
In a collaboration between Trinity College Botanic Garden and Trinity Disability Service, an additional and unique opportunity is being offered to an undergraduate student to spend six weeks working at Trinity’s botanic garden to produce a sensory map of the gardens as part of TCD Sense – The Trinity Sensory Processing Project.
TCD Sense aims to make Trinity more inclusive by reviewing and improving new and existing spaces, building sensory awareness and delivering specialist supports to students who experience barriers to managing and adapting the sensory environments of college. Further details can be found at https://www.tcd.ie/disability/services/tcdsense.php
The new Trinity Sense Internship will run alongside the TCBG Cathcart-Schuler Internship programme which hosts two undergraduate students each year. Commencing on 6th June, it will run for six weeks and comes with a stipend of €2000 (funded by TCD Sense).
This is an exciting opportunity for an additional student to gain hands on experience in conservation horticulture alongside two other undergraduate students of Botany and/or Environmental Science. As an intern you will become an integrated member of the garden team, working alongside the Curator, Outreach Officer and grounds staff . You will receive on-the-job training in the day-to-day horticultural and conservation activities being undertaken in the gardens, glasshouses and arboretum. You will also assist in any outreach activities which may be taking place.
Interns are encouraged to seek all opportunities to observe and learn and to be responsible for all areas of work assigned. There will also be time to document and share your activities and learning experiences in a weekly blog or vlog post on the Trinity College Botanic Garden website https://trinitybotanicgarden.ie/.
You can read about some of the experiences of previous interns in their blogs:
